33% Ten Week Examination ( AP Exam version)
34% Class Participation ( projects, mandated and optional
homework see below)
=============================================================
Major Comprehensive Tests Every 5th Week of School( Each Test is worth approximately 1/3(33%) of the 10 wk. report card grade.
This policy may vary after the 20th week of school.
Class participation is a variable 33%( If student's classwork and constructive involvement in course activities exceeds the class average the student will receive a higher percentage. This may considerably offset low test grades to the student's benefit.
There is no correlation between academic evaluations and discipline. Well-behaved students do not receive higher grades for their cooperation and miscreant students do not receive lower grades for their classroom disruption.
Homework Policy
Mandated Homework includes Document Based Questions,
Thematic and Comparative research questions
Constructed Response Questions periodically
assigned
Optional Homework is an opportunity for students
to demonstrate their initiative and creativity
in designing their own submissions according to
their particular desires
Prior consultation with instructor is advised
Homework consists of Mandated assignments given with advanced notification and explanation for reviewing major themes and course concepts. Failure to hand in such homework on the date due is subjected to grade reduction(Student may challenge in conference with instructor)
Students also have the option of doing "Optional Homework Assignments." This opportunity for advanced scholastic activity is meant to encourage self-motivation and self-discipline in the pursuit of academic excellence. Such grades are entered in the class participation category of the above grading policy
