Course Name: Community Based Program

Grading Policy
This is a Community Based Program in which we teach in accordance with the student's IEP goals. The student's level of independence will increase. We will endeaver to increase the students vocational and social skills, their level of persoanl indepedence and increase their knowledge and ability to travel independently. Vocational assessements may also be given, as we are assigned to jobsites each year. Progress is based on student acquisition to the subject matter taught. Progrss reports, which will give an indication of progrss or the the lack of progress, will be sent home four (4) times a year.

 

 

Homework Policy
Home work will be assigned 1 to 3 times a week to strengthen their course of studies. Homework is due the morning of the next school day.

 

 

Test Policy
Each Thursday,test will be given in any one of the subject areas.
English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies or Math. Some of them will be open book test on a weekly basis.

 

 

Quiz Policy
A quiz will be given in any one of the subjects listed. [English Language Arts, Science[Biology and/or Health], Math, Social Studies, and Independent Living on a weekly basis.

 

 

Projects
Prior to Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, students will be asked to do several things:

1. To bring in canned-goods for the needy, to participate with Hutch Tech in bringing joy to families in Camp-Good-Days

2. To help prepare a Thanksgiving and/or a Christmas Dinner for the class to enjoy. Parents will be invited

C. English Language Arts
1. Reading Readiness:,Phonics, Opposites, Etc
2. Vocabulary: Sight/Functional Words
3. Reading: Simple Reading Books
4. Reading Comprehension: Reading for facts, Who, What, When,
Where, and How questons, Etc.

D. Math
1. Adding/Subtraction, Multiplication
2. Money: Coin ID./Value, Counting, Change, Etc.
3. Time: Hour, Half-hour, Quarter-hour, Minutes., Etc.

E. Biology
1. Systems of the Body
2. Organs, the importance and how to keep the healthy

F. Health
1. Nutrition: Healthy Eating
2. Vitamins and the body
3. Cooking in healthy ways

G. Social Studies
1. Facts about the States of USA [1 month each]
2. Coin and Stamp for each state
