Junior Leadership Course
Hutch Tech conducted its first Junior Leadership Course for 50 incoming freshmen from July 30th – August 13, 2010. Students learned leadership skills, communication skills and the importance of physical fitness. The program was designed for incoming High School Freshman to build character, self-esteem, confidence, and ownership of their school. On Friday the course ended with a final academic competition and recognition luncheon to honor the student’s achievement during the course. Students were recognized for their accomplishment receiving recognition for Leadership, Citizenship, and Fitness along with course certificates of completion.
The top students were:
For Leadership – Bienvenu Juma
For Citizenship – Katie Hale
For Fitness – Jonell Akins- Jones
At the recognition luncheon the Cadre was also recognized, Rebecca Robles received a $1000.00 scholarship from the American Legion and a $1000.00 scholarship from Cellino and Barnes. Jamar Chandler was presented with the Sojourners National Award.
The program provided a solid foundation for success in the lives of incoming freshman, leaving them all with a sense of pride, standards, and confidence which they will carry into the school year as they begin their high school education.
